Your email subscribers are on your list because they want to hear from you and are eagerly anticipating your book release. They will be happy to share news of your book with their audience as well. They just need to know how to do that and you can provide all the information they need to easily share your book release announcement.
About a month before your book is released, let your email list know when the book will be released and ask them to share the announcement with their network. Write up copy about the book that your audience can share on their social media platforms. Include sample tweets and Facebook messages they can share. What other ways can you leverage your email list to support your book launch?
Here’s a great example. Author of The Business of Being, Laurie Buchanan, PhD, just sent out an email to her list about her book release early next month. She includes several things her audience can do to help support her book launch – all of which I strongly recommend my clients include in an email they send to their list about a month before their book release. I asked Laurie if I could share her email here and with her permission, it’s reprinted here. See my notes that follow.
As you may know, I am releasing my second book, The Business of Being early next month. I am so humbled and thrilled by the positive reviews and reception it has already received. So many of you have already supported me in my writing and I hope you will help again by spreading the word.
Since the countdown is officially on, I have come up with six easy ways you can help me spread the word about The Business of Being. I am grateful for each one of you, all you have done, and continue to do every day to rally behind me. I hope you’ll do one or more of the following items to help support The Business of Being:
SOCIAL MEDIA
Like my author page on Facebook, follow me on Twitter and Instagram, and share news about the book via social media. Please tag me when you do so that I can thank you. Also, feel free to join in the conversation by using the hashtag #TheBusinessofBeing when posting.
PRE-ORDER THE BOOK
Please consider buying the book. Pre-orders and the first few days it’s on sale are vital for a book launch.
REVIEW ON AMAZON
After you’ve read the book, post a review/rating of the book on Amazon. Reviews like yours will help potential readers decide whether or not to buy the book, and the more reviews, the better.
REVIEW ON GOODREADS
Add The Business of Being to your shelf on Goodreads and review and rate it.
LIBRARY
Ask the acquisition librarian at your local library to acquire a copy of The Business of Being.

Laurie has implemented specific strategies I recommend to my clients. She:
- provides very specific ways her email list subscribers can support her book launch
- created a specific hashtag for her book – #TheBusinessofBeing.
- asks for reviews and gives a reason why
- provides links to her events
- thanks everyone for their support and asks how she can pay it forward
Thank you Laurie for letting us share this and best wishes on your book released July 10, 2018!
